shopped around a lot for auto insurance last year, never had a hard inquirythey used to ding your credit if you shop for rates. Wonder if they still do?
American Family Insurance. Home, umbrella, and all vehicles. You can go through Costco to bundle them. And before anyone flames me for using Costco, my home in Stateline went from $5600 to $1700 back in 2020 for fire insurance.Who do you use. I need to shop around.b4 . Got a month B4 payments due.

I’ve opened carried in Costco many times with no BS.
I’m shocked that SF will write homeowners. It pays to shop around.so i did get a quote from american family. $200 a year cheaper for the truck.
BUT with state farm the home is $771. American Family is $1652!!!

I stopped by Progressive 6 months ao. He shopped everything Only one cheaper was usaa, but crappier coverage. And STATE farm was much cheaper on the home insurance. So stayed with em. I'll be shopping around again, not due for a month.Mine went down $153 for a 6 month premium with Progressive. But it is still crazy. They rate us like we are in LA or Vegas (same damn place IMO)
Maybe the damn Maverick is what is costing me so much. I need to do some research and sell it if that is the problem.
I feel a need to update my recommendation from 8 months ago. At 152k miles, I found a little puddle of oil under my CRV but in a weird spot: near the firewall on driver’s side. Nowhere near the motor, nor transaxle. No cv leaking, nothing running down the block, nothing off the turbo. At best it looked like something was running down the front sub-frame and down the control arm, so I took it back to my shop.If it fits your budget, I ended up liking my 2017 Honda CRV way more than I thought I would. The little turbo’d 1.5L is super peppy in the 2017 and up models, and at 6’ 260lbs I feel like I have plenty of room.
When I checked with AAA they quoted me about half what the lizard people are charging. What about AAA insurance? I need to check rates with them to see if I can save.
Yeah, they have a cult-like following for avid fans. Very space efficient and dead nutz reliable for the most part.It was definitely an under appreciated vehicle.
Yeah it isn't uncommon to have fluid filled bushings. I've had to replace a bunch over my time working on MBs.I feel a need to update my recommendation from 8 months ago. Hondas, apparently, are utilizing oil filled bushings on the lower control arms. Why? Only an engineer would know, but the passenger side is about to pop too. Debating whether I want to mess with it over a weekend or just pay the shop’s $1,400 quote lol.
Still a solid car. For 152k miles with only tune ups and brakes, I have no complaints.
I’m hearing that more and more. I’m used to the era of cars where bushings were just rubber-ish or sometimes a type of poly, and they’d crack and just make annoying squeaks for years but still function well enough.Yeah it isn't uncommon to have fluid filled bushings. If someone years ago had told me oil filled bushings were a thing, I’d have laughed it off right along side exhaust bearings. But I’ll be damned if about 8 years back a buddy who runs maintenance for a semi-truck outfit here showed me his new Peterbilts have bearings holding the exhaust pipes and stacks. What is the world coming to?! Pretty soon blinker fluid will be a thing, and topping it off with require the left handed screw driver!
