This is a great idea for any future transactions that somebody might need some assistance on….good lookin out brother.

To the OP, chalk it up to that learning experience that won’t happen again. Like someone else said, could have been A LOT worse had you sent the full amount. Take the wins where you get them lol.
 
Called in a favor, found more data , seems the REAL Richard Liu has had his identity stolen, to the extent that folks know about the homes he owns in CA and NV, phone number, e-mail address, etc.
So, whoever Uncl3 is/ was, he did a good job making it appear he is the real Richard Liu.
And now Uncl3 is banned.
 
And closing this thread, it's more than run its course

No Venmo claims to be for friends to send friends money and they will not do anything about it. Venmo is a great tool for scammers. I got bit a year and a half ago. Guy that got me got a bunch of other people on snipers hide and last I heard police were working on sending him away.
 
If your VENMO account gets the funds from a credit card, just dispute the credit card, if it is tied to a bank account, contact the bank, they might be able to help. If the funds were already in a Venmo account, they are gone.
Still, I would report it to the police.
