It *would* shed some light with further details. Ain't right to accuse someone of scamming without filling in the blanks and proof. All we have in the for sale thread is an offer to sell and an I'll take it. What's interesting is the seller is in Gardnerville (where I live) and the prospective buyer in Vegas. There's no mention of shipping or willingness to ship etc. What's going on here??

Especially buying an sbr, since it would be a form 4 person to person transfer, I would damn sure verify they were in good standing, since they would be holding it until the paperwork clears the feds.

Uncl3 tried to scam me on a m1 Garand a few months back. I asked for a photo ID held next to the receiver and it was the worst photoshop ever. I posted it on the thread and called this scammer out, BUT A MOD TOOK IT DOWN SAYING IT WAS NOT PROOF.

Shame on whichever mod it was. Now a member is out money

All of us need to post and call out these scammer members. Met a fairly new member a while back and bought something from him. He was dealing with a member who has been on here for years who wasn’t following up on a deal with him. He didn’t want to make a stink of it because he was new and the other member wasn’t.
I said he should call the member out and let the mods know. He did. I have dealt with this newer member and he is a stand up guy. This is the only way we are going to get rid of POS on the board.

Here’s a new member here who would have been successful if I fell for it…

There should be a special forum sub-group where deals gone bad can be posted. The scammer's user name, real name, and phone number should be posted, the item being sold and a brief description of the fraud.
This would help all members.

We should have to submit a picture of our ID to mods to be apart of this forum so if we are reported they can transfer that information to the cops, nyecogunsmith (a mod) told me there was a scammer using 5+ different accounts

The mods should be able to ban someone by using their IP address.
Someone with five accounts would be using one IP so easy to spot/ find (unless using multiple VPN's)

That was me, the ID was valid, I ran the DL, the picture was photoshopped , true, but to put both the M1 garand and the ID in focus it appeared.

As I recall, it was reported as a scam solely based on the premise that the ID was a fake. No money changed hands, is that correct?
The ID wasn't fake, and the gent on it has addresses in CA and Gardnerville, now, NONE of this I just wrote means he is NOT a scammer, just means that previous report didn't prove it to point we could ban him.

We do as much as we can to ensure the members here are legitimate, but guys, WE ARE NOT your parents, all ya'all are big boys and girls and should be responsible for your own actions.

If you buy a used car through and ad in the paper or off a bulletin board at the grocery store, and it turns out to be a lemon and a scam, do you complain to the newspaper or the store? And want them somehow to remedy it for you?

As I said, we do what we can to weed out the fakes and scammers and spammers, often a dozen a day. Keep reporting them when you have solid proof, and we will do what we can to get them gone and keep them gone.

I am sorry if a member is out money, but it is every buyers responsibility to do their due diligence in any purchase, whether if is from an ad on this forum or anywhere else and for any item.

And while we are on the subject of reporting issues with sales, and with buyers and sellers, I am TIRED of getting reports that a sale went through but the seller or buyer is being reported as having been RUDE, or was 5 minutes late to the meeting point because of traffic, or was grumpy, or old, or hard to arrange a convenient meeting time with, or you bought it but then decided it wasn't EXACTLY as described when you got it home and found one extra scratch you weren't aware of , or some other whiney nonsense, yah, have had people report someone for all those things in the last few months.

Old man rant off.
