. Why would you remove an adjustable sight and replace it with a rather large fixed sight?

I have an STI Spartan which uses the same LPA adjustable rear. The LPA sights are of a poor design IMO. The rear blade makes very little contact with the adjustable mechanism making it delicate. My rear sight blade went flying off during a multi day pistol course and I had to purchase a rental. It now has the same Harrison rear and you could use that sight to defend yourself, if needed.

This pistol has very tasteful upgrades. Just wanted to provide another opinion who may be on the fence. Nice 1911

Free bump and GLWS.

I agree with you bobhostter it’s a great sight. The smith and Alexander upgrade alone is a very good upgrade on his 1911. Great guy to deal with too I bought another mag well off him and he was on time

STI Spartans, at least the earlier one's, were made in the Phillipines by Armscor and didnt use an actual LPA rear sight. They used a Phillipino made copy of it. The reason I asked about replacing the rear sight is that the same gun is available from the factory with fixed sights and is cheaper so... ?

LPA's are a decent sight but are not top of the line copies, there are better available. The Harrison replacement fixed sight is ok but a bit bulky for my tastes, I much prefer the Hiene Slant Pro.

Which model would that be ?
The only full-size RO with fixed sights would be the Range Officer operator. And its MSRP is $100 more, and has a rail & front cocking serrations which I do not care for.
Also at the time I purchased this gun, the RO operator was not available. Range Officer came out in 2011, Range officer operator came out in 2016. Mine was also an early model with the blacked out front sight

Mine was a genuine LPA brand LPA adjustable sight. That pistol was in no way abused. Junk IMO. To my knowledge the Heines are not available in the LPA cut and would need to be modified. When I bought it the Harrison was the only one available for the factory cut. Why do you feel the need to crap in someones WTS thread in any case? Against the rules IIRC.

Congrats on the sale OP. I'd buy it if I didnt already have too many 1911s. Very nice pistol!
