Playing out on the dry lakes outside Mina

I wish I had someone with me on this trip to get some videos. This was the first time I had the truck out on a large lake bed. Damn speed governor! :ranting:

Got bored last week, and tired of plain beater yellow. Now it's closer to matching the seat covers. :lkick:

How long did that take you?

About 8 hours, over a 3 day period. Had to allow for drying times because of the method I used.

I masked it all off to shoot the tan base color and clearcoat. Spots were done with a brush.

This is my "offroad vehicle" in it's current state. Although other than a few small shooting trips where 4wd was barely needed, it hasn't seen much offroad action. And probably won't in the future either lol.

That is on my bucket list of events to attend. Hopefully next year we will have 4 of us headed that way.

I used to live there so we would go watch all the time. You wouldn't think that difficult a trail is located in that area. This was back when Scorpions were all the rage and hydraulic steering was catching on for those who could afford the set-up.

Well recently picked her up as my off road project. She's got a list of common issues that plagued the xj's but she's got a straight body and engine is strong! Got a long arm lift kit coming in soon and I can't wait to get her trail ready

Here is my 1980 CJ5 . . .

I HATE YOU! (Unless you know a cheap way to drop a 350 small block into my YJ! I have a decent 383" stroker motor I can detune for the street! Hahaha!)

I had a '50 Willys with a 289 that was fast and got decent mileage.

Now I have a YJ with a 6 cyl. that sucks gas but not asphalt!

The Warden's '90 Cherokee, 4.0 6 cyl. was okay. The 4.2 I have is a dog! Maybe 10-11 MPG!

What's the trick, while staying below the cost of a second mortgage?

They make a conversion to put the 5.3 in there with all the electronics pretty cheap. That had been popular with the jeep guys. You can get very good power out of that motor. Cam and tune they become torque whores!!

The one thing I don't want is electronics! Technology hates me!

Give me a good old carb any time.

Today is the day I start my jeep build. We are starting the custom longs arm kit today and should be finished sat. Next step is some rims and 33 inch tires followed by armor.

Got some goodies in yesterday. Next weekends project.
