I have a used brownells barrel extension tool that is in good shape I can sell. $30 will take it, and a chunk of 1/2 square stock home I find it the most versatile. you can chuck the stock in your vice slide the tool on the end, and it holds the upper while you wrench on your muzzle device/barrel nut. Or you can put your wrench in the vice, and insert your torque wrench into the tool and crank from center axis. I bought another thinking I would wear one out, and I don't think it will happen
