Always fun to see local shops still gouging on .22LR. Sells all day for $.10/round and cheaper if you are quick on the trigger ;/ At least I know where not to shop.
2A is a great store with great people, there prices are in line with everybody else. Unless of course you compare any gun store to Walmart which buys ammo by the ton. Don't forget next shooting Walmart will pull all their ammo like the Nellis store just did. These local shops are what being a gun owner is all about. You go wait in line at Walmart or be there at 4 am. I will continue to go to 2A and talk to some great people and buy anything I need for my guns, because I know they are not a spineless corporation like Walmart.

I look at it like this. It's more than I would pay only because I stocked up before the craziness, however it's not out of line considering what's been going on with .22LR.

$59.99 a brick may seem high today, it may seem cheap in a year or two considering what goes on with these anti gun law makers. One thing is for sure, ammo just like anything else will just keep going up! Not down in price.

Second Amendment has the ammo and this is good to know. I've been in there a few times and everyone was terrific to deal with and very friendly. This is a small gun shop an they can't buy it by the truckloads like Walmart.

No reason to hate on this shop. They're trying to keep the doors open just like everyone else!

Doz and tbugher62, you need some internet etiquette. It's none of your damn business what they paid. If you don't like it, move along.

I agree completely. It is sponsor's like 2A who provide the funds to keep our little community going. If you don't like their prices, don't buy, but also don't crap on them. If you really have a problem, PM them, being sponsors I am sure they would reply promptly.

Quite frankly just unnecessary......

Thanks 2A for having .22 in stock at all!

Funny how everyone was crapping on the .22LR prices from popular websites and saying do not do business with them and support their gouging but when a local shop does it, they get supported.

Whatever. And thread crapping is for private sales, although I am sure since we have a supporting company Ill get a warning/ban. Whatever. Funny how everyone is sensitive about comments on local suppliers. Lets just not do reviews and question local shops anymore.

.22LR is readily available for cheaper and usually 3-4 times a week drops down to $35-50/brick SHIPPED. I understand its a local shop but come on, this is no different than the shops gouging .223 during the boom that noone wanted to support and everyone bashed.

But you are right, I will vote with my money.
People get sensitive when you accuse a shop of gouging which is a major charge. Have you seen what they pay for it? Have you seen their books? The answer is no. So before you accuse a shop of gouging which is a serious charge maybe get some facts first.

I went in and spoke with Mark Hames at 2nd Amendment today. FYI they personally drove up to Pahrump to the Armscor factory/warehouse to pick up that .22 LR ammo. the price is as low as possible, they are not charging for the shipping, and there is a marginal markup (directly from their invoice) and there is no price gouging happening at the retail level in this case.

People forget to realize that a typical shop owner has to pay overhead, including rent, payroll, insurance and advertising. And in this case, a nominal monthly fee to the forum as well.

I learned the hard way when I had a Harley shop in So. Cal.

I had 5 full time mechanics, a complete line of fluids and apparel, and most of the more popular parts and accessories. But if I charged 5% more for an item than someone could get through a catalog or online . . . even if I had it in stock and the customer could get it right then . . . I was still 'overpriced'! (Never mind that my overhead included the normal business expenses as noted above, plus also specialty tools like a mill, lathe, lifts, flywheel truing stands, frame racks, tire machine, etc.)

And we offered free towing to the shop if a bike broke down! Even picked up a couple bikes and their riders in Laughlin one time, no extra charge!
(My shop was in Santa Clarita, CA.)

Yeah, I know, not the best business plan, but our loyal customers were worth it!

One time, Corey Ness needed a part on his way to the Love Ride. He expected it for free since his dad was Arlen! HAHAHA!!!!!!!!!! We made him pay . . . normal price . . . but should have charged extra for his attitude! :001_rolleyes:

Yeah, it's tough for brick and mortar shops to compete on price with low-overhead online retailers or big box stores with huge volume pricing leverage, and Clark County's 8.1% sales tax is killing those guys. True for motorcycle parts; true for ammo.

And I myself wouldn't criticize the price 2A is charging for U.S. Armscor ammo without knowing what U.S. Armscor is charging 2A. Critics may be crying "Gouge!" about the wrong party. But we don't know what Armscor's margins are on 22LR, so I wouldn't be quick to judge them either.

If $25 bricks of 22LR were readily available, I suspect we'd all be snapping them up. The problem is that it's really hit or miss, a matter of being in the right place at the right time, etc. Frankly, I think the era of $.05/rnd .22LR is coming to a close. And I think it has a lot more to do with increased costs of production than it does with increased profit margins for whomever. Even at 2A's prices, you can still shoot 22LR for less than half what you can shoot 762x39 or 9mm.

I've never bought ammo from 2A, but they handled a transfer for me, and I was pleased with the service. And the existence of such shops to handle such services is, in my view, valuable.
