I can't see how this is a free forum....

As stated ealrier, It's a llc. The cost to renew in Las Vegas is brutal and thanks to bidens new IRS minions audits will be here next years for sure.

My s-corp is about 800.00 a year to run my own show here.

I'm not getting in the middle of someone's tiff on class or no class.

Bottom line this is a great site and if ya can't toss in a few bucks for the cause then start kicking rocks.

Nice open and friendly community we have here... "Pay or get out" replies all over the place.🙄

A little heads up on the policy change would have been cool though.
That was directed squarely at the person I replied to, who has had a history of using more than his share of "moderator time" over the years (by not adhering to the rules/policies of the forum).

Yes im a loud mouth and it gets me in trouble. No disagreement there.
Calling me names when ive gotten moderator time for calling somebody a "nerd" is a bad look if we're airing out laundry though.

This is a free forum, but it doesn't run for free. Im sure there are costs involved to run a successful website/ forum.
My assumption was that anyone who advertises on the forum (small or large gun or accessories business), be it an LLC, partnership, or Corp...... actually pays a fee to advertise on the forum. Plus the forum owner has "merch" that members can buy. That is another source of income or profit to pay the bills and keep the lights on.
If the costs to run the site are going up then charge the vendors/ advertisers a little more per month, or quarterly, or whatever.

Is there a way to move the non firearm related items (garage sale stuff) to some out of the way place on the forum? If I wanted used shoes, pants, or a 1972 POPEIL'S POCKET FISHERMAN Spin Casting Rod I would go to a thrift store, drive around looking for garage sales, or find internet posting of these items. There are many who agree, some who don't.

This topic has come up a couple of times across the years. For most of us who lurk here it isn't new. I dont disagree with it. Sometimes it feels we are inundated with new people who just want to sell stuff for high gun broker prices.

Take it or leave it. Let's see if we loose conversation.

That being said I haven't bought or sold on here in quite a while.

why would you make a dime when u can make dollars~~~ $20 per year? cmon bros thats less than ur daily snacks

Ok, but I do say if we all gotta pay. Then take the time to differentiate between "Las Angeles suburb" and Nevada!!!
For sale suck's when you're searching outside of Clark county.

He stated all current adds will remain right now
P.S.

I'm just pissed I missed the 1972 POPEIL'S POCKET FISHERMAN Spin Casting Rod . Next you will tell me I missed the Flowbee and the Spray-On hair also!!

OTOH, I do need to get off the pot and donate for this year because I know how much money and time a site like this can eat up. I would think his time might be worth a buck or two also.

It's not like it's $20 to sign up for the forum, or post on the forum. It's only if you're posting ads in the Trading Post.
If not posting ads, then it doesn't effect you whatsoever.
You can still respond to ads too.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ! I’m trying to get some good ammo deals :ROFLMAO:

If we reread the thread i dont think anybody was complaining about the cost.
I have said multiple times i dont blame the guy. I just dont believe it will stop scammers. That was my point.
Nothing is 100% but I'm sure even you realize that it will deter most common scammers

edit : btw done over 50 deals here never met a scammer once not kidding

The other methods of weeding out the drive-by sellers and scammers was heavily debated. Minimum post counts before posting in the tp means we get newbs posting non-sense all over just to pad their count. Email restrictions made it damn near impossible for gmail users to get registered. I’ve been here since almost the inception and have seen many attempts made to keep the tp as legit as possible.

The forum remains free for users, and throughout the ownership changes, all involved have wanted one thing: to build a community for Nevada gun owners to talk guns. Sure, this new step will help keep the lights on, but also helps weed out people who want to merely use us as NevadaBackPage vs help building the community while selling.
