Registered users may still post replies, but going forward, only Forum Supporters, Trading Post Subscribers, and Commercial Sponsors can post new threads/ads.

This applies specifically to the Trading Post!

As of now, this applies to anyone who has earned the green Forum Supporter badge. This may change to an annual pass (meaning an annual forum supporter badge starting as early as next year).

What are the reasons for this change?
1. We have a new web host. It costs more. We are a legitimate business (2A Group LLC). We pay government fees and taxes. The forum needs to be financially sound in order to continue.
2. Having to pay a fee cuts down on scammers. Most scammers aren't going to pay money for the opportunity to scam. They will find easier prey that doesn't cost them money.

Information regarding existing ads posted by non-Forum Supporters:
The ads will stay. However, the ability to edit the title has been removed. The reason for this to close the potential loop hole that would allow a user to change the title from something for sale now, to something else for sale. To mark something sold, please reply to the post saying it's sold, then use the Report button so Staff can close it.

This doesnt stop scammers from contacting people which seems to be far more common than scammers posting things for sale.
That seems like an excuse.

You need to pay the bills. Just say that. Anybody thinking this will stop scammers or trolls is being silly.
That is indeed the more common than scams being posted. We've gotten a lot better at catching them and deleting them before the fake ads are noticed.

The fact is, both reasons are listed. You can put up your tinfoil hat all you want - I don't give a (lov) what you think. 😏

My tinfoil hat? Dude im having a conversation in what is still a public forum.
This is the internet equivalent of expecting "Gun Free Zone" signs to stop bad guys from carrying guns. LoL
Its not going to really work that way. It will stop good people from carrying (posting) though.

I get that you need to pay the bills and dont blame you for wanting to collect something for this work. Making it about "security" is sort of nonsense though and it should be obvious to anybody that stops to think about it.

Either way oh well. Its not my circus. Im not telling you how to run it, but i also dont have to just shut up and say nothing either... For now.

By the way, thanks for freeloading on the forum all these years and then (b****)ing about it. Class.
Lol oh boy.
Im (b****)ing so much, right? I mean how dare anybody even question you? Come on dude. Stop acting like this.
Im not even being rude.
You can be mad that im not giving you money but given your attitude and how you're talking to me for expressing an opinion, why should I? To post stuff for sale? No thanks. That isnt worth giving YOU the money.

I remember when members had to have a certain number of posts before they could even VIEW the trading post. It wasnt a lot but that seems like a better way to determine somebody's actual position in the community rather than a monetary amount.
The money helps pay the bills though and i DO understand why you need to charge for this service.

Not mad, even though you are making untrue accusations. We've been talking about this for years now. Probably should have done it sooner.

Again, if you don't understand why this chnage occured, read the first post. If it's still not clear, read it again, and so on and so forth.

Not everything is a conspiracy, "dude".
