Just starting to put this out there, as I have some time until I "need" this rifle. I used to have a Marlin 917VS That I loved, but I sold several years ago before moving to Reno. It was an absolute tack driver.

But, anyway, looking for a nice rifle in .17hmr. Savage, Marlin, Ruger, CZ, whatever. Open to the brand. Open to included optics or no optics.

I'm in Reno, so a northern NV sale would be ideal. However, I will be down in Vegas mid-late February, and could make a purchase then if we come to an agreement.

Let me know whats out there. I've got a squirrel shoot in March :)

I have a savage 17hmr with a stainless barrel and thumb hole stock in Las Vegas if you don’t find one before you come to town. If you want I can send you pictures on PM.

I appreciate that but I assume it’s a right handed stock?

Even though I’m a lefty I do commonly shoot right handed, and right handed bolt guns don’t bother me when I’m shooting right or left handed...but generally a thumbhole stock will be too limting and force me to shoot right handed the whole time :-(

Still casually looking

I have a nice Anschutz 1717. Used but not abused. Pricey but scary accurate.

I appreciate that, Anschutz are definitely fine firearms but also definitely beyond my budget at this juncture.

Willey Bros. on south Virginia St. has a couple including a Savage A17 auto at a pretty good price.
I'll have to swing by. I was in a few weeks ago and there was an older (pre-accu trigger) Savage bolt on the rack, but didn't see any others.

And it says Lux, not Trainer on the box?

I think it's either a 22lr Lux (walnut stock), or a 17hmr Trainer (beechwood stock). Both are checkered.

Okay, it's the special trainer with the checkered beechwood stock. It has the longer 24.8" barrel. They don't make these anymore. Since 2013 I think. They use to sell for around $400 if I remember. What are you asking for it?
