I went through a similar process a couple of years ago, and almost got a 50th year S&W for 50 Bday .....but held out for a 50 BMG. Looking back on it....50BMG was a good call. I ended up with an Armalite AR50 , and over the past year, have had a blast with it, sharing it with friends and family and fellow shooters at the range. Everyone loves to shoot it, and have some pics with it and a band of linked ammo over their shoulder. Being able to drop an engine block at 1500 yds. ain't a bad thing these days as well...
More affordable than a Barrett.

50th anniversary is the golden anniversary...and this is the anniversary of you being alive for 50 years....you know what you need to do.

Gold Desert Eagle in .50. with or without the tiger stripes.

Yes, they are big and clunky, but they are an absolute hoot to shoot, and are pretty neat machines.

1972 saw the introduction of the MAC-11, Ruger Old Army, and Ruger Single-Six, for some.

And Ruger Security Six...Also the year I met my to be wife. A very good year.

Oops. I meant the Security Six. The Single-Six was much, much earlier in the 50s.

This was going to be my recommendation - nothing says happy 50th like a 50rd magazine.

Then you SBR that bad boy and put a can on it. Until you go full auto there is nothing out there that is this much fun for short ranged work/targets.
