As much as it pains me I need to buy a car for my daughter. I was looking at an older Prius or the like. Something easy on gas as I will be footing the bill. Anyone have any leads or looking to get rid of something? PM me

Thanks!

Any car with only a seat for the driver! You don't mention her age but teenage girls are rated worse drivers than teenage boys according to insurance companies. No passengers, no distractions, I'm assuming she is a teenager.

I came from a larger family, long before we reached drivers license age we got the "you want a car get a job speech". We all had jobs, bought our own cars by 16, and 7 of the 8 of us bought 1st homes by the time we were 25. I bought my 1st car at 14, a '68 Ford Thunderbird that had an awesome "wraparound sides" rear seat :) I didn't bother getting my drivers license until after I graduated from college but I did have insurance from 16 on.

Try Nellis Auction, usually they have auctions once or twice a week for vehicles. The cars are a live auction as well as online. They are on Nellis Blvd just north of Lake Mead.

A few weeks ago a friend went to one auction preview. Talking with an employee about the auction and asking why certain cars with bids each week keep coming back. Basically some cars have reserves even when it is not listed as having one and if the auctioneer doesn't like the bids he will just pass on it.
Employee also pointed out two DMV investigators checking out several vehicles up for auction. Nellis just doesn't look into consignments very closely at all even a Chevy Tahoe with broken door locks, torn down steering column and wires and missing radio...

As for what type of car for a teenager. ~1983 Mercedes 240D. 0-60 in about 22 seconds and built like a tank.
