Never used just put gas in it and started it

I hope you put oil in it before testing. I believe these are shipped dry from the factory.
 
I'll take the generator. The last brown out we had was in the summer at 1:00 am in the morning. I thought we were going to die from the heat. No fan, no nothing. No power till 7:30 am the next morning. I've never owned a generator before so perhaps you can give me some pointers.
