For sale is an original Ansonia Clock Co., New York, “Philosopher” figural mantel clock with 8 day time and escape movement in gold finish, enameled porcelain dial and cast iron metal case and base, c.1894. It's a monster (20L x 12W x 16H) and weights nearly 30 lbs. It is called the "Philosopher" because of the figure shown seated pondering a mathematical problem on a removable tablet which is included with the clock. Good luck trying to find just the original removable tablet for this clock. By itself, they don't exist.
