My wife is training for her first triathlon. We had a cycling coach do an in-depth bicycle fit session in April. He took forever to deliver his recommendations (as in, yesterday), and I’m discovering how much frame size makes a difference now that we’re shopping under a tight deadline.

I’ll put her on a $5k Bianchi someday, but I’m looking to stay under $1k for the first bike.

If you’re a cyclist and know of a bike or come across one, heads-up is much appreciated.

The specs the coach provided were 52-55 cm. Sample suggested models were:
Canyon - Endurance
Giant - Defy
Specialized - Roubaix / Ruby / Allez
Bianchi - Infinito
Cannondale - Synapse
Orbea - M Series.

I'm curious if you don't mind sharing, how much does it cost to do an in-depth bicycle fit session and how is it done, just measuring limbs?

Yeah, fair question. $300. A 90 minute session that went into stuff like range of motion, variances dependent on exertion level, asymmetry, balance, pain points, joint health, other stuff. Review of video footage as well as the guy doing hands-on manipulation and observation. It was pretty interesting exercise science stuff.

The guy came very well-recommended. It breaks down to $200/hr. My firm contracts me out at $150. A preeminent lawyer I know starts at $600. I would say the price was worth it if he had delivered the report in a timely manner.
