Here is a Colt M1877 aka Thunderer. Made in 1880 with all numbers matching. This is the sheriff or shopkeeper's model. I would absolutely love to restore this relic to its former glory however I have not the time, skill or money to do so. No ffl required.
This was nicknamed the gunsmiths best friend as well as the gunsmiths nightmare. Difficult to work on and fragile, this piece of history is not for the timid or novice.
The following problems :
Cylinder does not lock up in any position Cylinder stop needs to be replaced, cylinder hand spring needs to be replaced, cylinder does not rotate. Trigger is limp and only fires in Single action. ( if you manually pull the trigger completely forward it can "catch " whatever makes it double action and it will function in double action for that trigger pull. Least of its problems is the missing grip screw. front sight is also missing which I hear is common and likely intentional to pocket carry back in the day.
Nickel finish is also not very present as shown.
DM with any questions. Firm on price.open to firearm trades in 9mm,45,38,223.
Crosslisted.
