I know it's a long shot here, but looking for any spare used PC video cards. Something around the lines of the nVidia GTX 1070 or there about. Let me know if you have anything laying around.

Cheers,

-AR

Just sold a RTX3070 for $1350 on ebay. Graphics card market is wild right now.

I do have an old Radeon 470 if you're interested. XFX BLACK with the replaceable fans.

If you happen to decide on pulling one let me know. I'd be down to talk trades for firearms or ammo at this point.

Dude I don't doubt it, the prices on eBay for cards are straight up insanity.

I’m running them in SLI with 6k spread across three pannels. If I drop to a single my frame rates will go from slow to suck balls in what I play.

Unfortunately I’m likely stuck with my current setup for a while as I refuse to pay scalpers pricing for ammo or vid cards.

What do you currently play?

Not a whole lot currently. Recently (last 12 months) finished squadrons, fallen order, mechwarrior 5, ace combat 7, and the single player battlefront 2. I had the massive online multiplayer bug back in the late 90s with evercrack and realized I was wasting my time. Played a little mechwarrior online but haven’t been back in maybe a year.

If I can’t get out to the field I try to at least fly on Microsoft flight simulator once a week for 30 minutes or so to stay a little proficient.

Been kicking around going back to replay balders gate I and II. Still have rollercoaster tycoon loaded on my laptop. Total anniliation is fun for old times top down RTS.

Everyone is buying to mine crypto. It's insane.
That is definitely driving the demand on older cards, but it's a perfect storm of multiple issues. People are stuck at home and want to game, there is a global chip shortage, shipping and supply chains are broken, and of course the crypto thing. The reason I say demand on older cards is nVidia artificially throttles mining hashes by 50% on their RTX 3060 cards and subsequent newer cards to dissuade crypto mining and reserve stock for gamers. That's one of the reasons you see old GTX 1070s going for $500 on the secondary market. The whole thing to your point though, is insane.

Crypto is crazy right now due to BTC's meteoric rise, as I write this it's almost to $60,000. That said, 1070s aren't the greatest mining cards but they are reliable. You could pull a few bucks a day with 2 cards but the power consumption and heat generation need to be factored in to the equation.

I’m on solar so generally power isn’t an issue, and my PC currently lives in the garage so heat isn’t a big deal either.

But a few bucks a day likely isn’t worth the effort. Now I remember why I didn’t get into mining.

Just out of curiosity, how is heat not big deal in your garage during the summer? You have cooling run? I'd love to move my rig to the garage but it's hot as hell in there during the summer.

In NM I’m not quite as hot as in Vegas. The CPU is liquid cooled, and there is a swamp cooler for the garage to keep the heat down to something reasonable.
