The WW1 rifle was the fullsize "Gewehr" G98. The WW2 "Karabiner" K98k is also known as a Kar 98k. It was common to drill and tap them a few generations ago. We see lots at the local vintage matches.Wow.....someone drilled and tapped an original WWI Kar98, predecessor of the K98. Beautiful rifle.

The Norwegian’s re-barreled a ton of post war K98’s into 30-06. I believe the barrel in this rifle is a Norwegian new old stock barrel, can’t confirm it unless it’s taken apart which I haven’t done. If a match or match director would allow a Norwegian K98 then this should be allowed as well but I’m certainly no expert. Good question tho, it made me read up on it.Legal in 30-06?
