I'm looking for an inexpensive semi auto 12 or 20ga for a friend who is just getting into skeet and sporting clays.

I'd consider a pump if you are willing to make me a deal on one.

Prefer something with screw in chokes and a 24-28" barrel. Fixed choke is fine is if its IC or MOD.

Thanks!

How bout that browning gold halfway down the page? I think it may have invector (removable) chokes and the seller just did a typo.

Personally I would never steer a clay shooter towards buying a pump gun.

Bump and PM responded to. The Browning is nice but not sure if its in the budget.

I agree a semi would be best for him, but he is mainly wanting to get into bird hunting (and shooting clays to learn). He's a college kid on a budget... wasnt too long ago I was in his shoes with a beat to **** 870 :laughingman:

I understand the point about initial outlay, but when the cost of clays shooting in general is figured in, a few hundred dollars for way more suitable equipment isn't that big a deal. My 2 cents.

There is knockoff 870 for $99 on gun.deals. never tried those, so don't know about quality or function. Add tax and bgc maybe shipping should be 150 out a local FFL's door. I think it was cdnn. That had the deal.

Until they want to commit to a higher budget gun.

inexpensive semi-auto 12 or 20 gauge

I bought myself one of these for Christmas, but haven't shot it yet.

http://hatfieldguncompany.com/product/hatfield-sas/

Wal-Mart at Eastern and Serene has them for $226 + tax and BGC.
Mine came with set of 3 chokes and 2 pistons for light and magnum loads.

Seems well built, good fit and finish. Have to shoot it for a final verdict though.

Plenty of reviews and You-Tube vids to check out.

Hope this helps !

I have a new in box Mossberg Maverick (much like a 500) with screw in chokes, 2 barrels, for $269; in Mesquite. I bought it in September and within a week a trade landed an 870 in my hands. Don't need them both
