I just went a bought a GMRS license online..... going to see if I can reach the tower from CCSC on a HT.

OK, so using a regular GMRS radio, I want channel 21 and need to set the receiving and transmitting CTCSS tone of 100.00, correct? Do I need to set a freq offset?

Transmit on 467.700 tone 100.0 (If you don't Tx on this, you won't be hitting a repeater)
Receive on 462.700 tone 100.0
Repeater is located on Low Potosi.

Finally got radio squared away, Will there be a net tonight? Have a couple of antennas to try out.

As far as I know there will be a net tonight at 1900 on the 462.700 machine.

I assume there is as well. Hopefully one of the asshats will be interfering with it. It's pretty sad. Makes you wonder what's so pathetic in their lives that they get their jolleys interfering with people communicating on a radio....

I won't be within range tonight, however.

The one on the 625 machine tends now to be about radio, RF theory, etc. and there is some good solid info there from a guy who makes his living working on radios.
