Isn't that a Series 80 frame with a Series 70 slide? Wouldn't that disable the safety? Is that safe? So I assume it was built out of parts from several different guns? Is that what makes it custom? Was it done by a professional gunsmith? I am looking for a good 1911, but I want to make sure I get a good one.

I wish I was knowledgeable enough to answer all of those questions, but I'm not. Maybe someone who is can chime in. Ambidextrous safety functions properly. I assume it's a reproduction series 70, but Colt did not have any specific information and it doesn't match the features of any production Colts. Fit, finish, and function are so nice I've shot, but never carried it and just like my Kimbers, it hits whatever I aim at. If it sells it sells. I certainly don't mind keeping it. I'm just trying to cut back a bit.

Just an FYI , that does not appear to be a high end build/custom. Those look like drop in parts , a high end custom would certainly have a fitted grip safety.

Your price is about right though.
