The 617 is a pre-lock, right? Any papers or case?

The 617 Is not pre-lock. No box or documentation. Purchased it new but I do not normally keep boxes and the documents are all accessible on line. Sorry.

It's not a dash four?

Thank you for the compliment on the 617. Very accurate revolver. Hate to part with it but I am buying a side by side shotgun and I need some mad money. Lol

I could be wrong, but I think the -4 is prelock (no lock).

I checked again. Stamped 617-4 and there is a lock/unlock port just above the cylinder release.

and Reno.... GLWS on the 617.

Hum, you then have something really unique because from everything I've read the 617-4 10-shot were pre-lock. 617s with internal locking mechanisms didn't start until the 617-5 version.

Maybe someone else with more expertise in 617s than I can chime in.

Maybe it is worth far more money than I am asking? ?

If you look at the second photo you can see the port for lock/unlock.

Yes, I see it. Again, I've never heard of a 617-4 10-shot internal lock.

Did you buy it new and send it in for work?

Since the model number is stamped on the crane, is it possible they just put a -4 crane/cylinder assembly on your -5 or later frame? You could always look up the serial number and see when it was made and check it that way.

There yah go! Mystery solved! Even a -6 for $675 is an excellent price. Bring it down here and I'll take it, hee, hee.....
