Thought I'd throw this out there, more as a "just in case" deal.

My business is based in Clark County. Please don't hold that against me too much; at least I am a native Nevadan. I even kept my residency here while on active duty in the US Navy (and no, I didn't make it to Fallon...)

Anyway, I have need to travel to Oregon this weekend. If there are any members in central or northern NV where these classes may be harder to find (I don't know) we have an opportunity.

My specialty is private in-home classes, sometimes one person or a family, sometimes a group that has been organized by the host.

My normal rate for a private class (NV/UT) starts at $250 (includes spiral-bound book), though there are often mitigating circumstances that can lower that rate, and there are times I collect more, of course, as the student count goes up.

So, if you are between Clark County and Oregon (that's most of you), feel free to PM me if you are in need of a class, or would like to host for a class because you know a group. While it is still possible for me to do one on Thursday or Friday, I'm guessing it may be more convenient on the return trip, starting Sunday or Monday of next week.

I can't list a fixed price, because it will depend on where you live and the number of students (which drops each student's price.) I'm also very flexible on terms and am known to accept diesel fuel or other items in trade. The barter system is alive and well in this economy!

Please remember that NV requires a live-fire qualification, so there needs to be a range nearby. It does not need to be a formal range.

That is very cool of you. Very cool indeed.
I have a question how can I become a CCW instructor? Who runs those classes?

The new requirement is to have the NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home Instructor certification. It's a not-short, not-cheap process, unfortunately.

Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club (EDIT: for those on the Sharp End) is the best way to get it done, as in the course of one winter, they will teach all the required NRA courses to get there.

EDIT: You don't have to have all the NRA courses (Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, Personal Protection In the Home,), but to get the Instructor cert for PP Outside the Home, you must first have taken PPOtH as a student. To do that, you either need to go through Basic Pistol and PPitH, or the necessary pretest and instructor permission.

Additionally, you must have a licensed business. You can't do it as an individual in NV (EDIT: well Clark County for sure), like you can in UT.

For UT, you must attend a one-day class near Salt Lake City at every renewal, taught by UT.

I am guessing that you have already passed through the area.

When will you be heading back through?

I know a few people in the Reno area that may want to get together for a class depending on price and timing.

Thanks.

I love Nevada. My dog and I love road trips.

PM me with number of students and a likely day (or type of day) and I'll see what other things I can arrange to make a common road trip out of it.

I will normally assume a NV + UT class. I usually do this in one day, but it can be spread into two.

Unless you want to bear the expense of me finding a classroom and range, you can arrange someone to host for the class and we will need any kind of legal live-firing range for the qualifications.
