The wife and I have been toying with the idea of getting an AR-9 after seeing some of the threads on here, if a decent deal is out there I am thinking I might be able to convince her to let me pick one up private party before the January 2020 mess.

Please PM me with pics, info, price (and any info you think I should know as someone who knows nothing about AR-9’s)
I am located in NW LV but willing to drive as far as Mesquite for an amazing deal.

Edit/Update: I am leaning toward a side folding NFA C9 lower w/ 8” or shorter suppressor ready barrel, side charging upper, LRBHO (requires Glock style mags), iron sights and Aimpoint T1 or T2. If anyone has anything like this or close to it they want to sell for cheaper than what I can get it from NFA, feel free to PM me with the details and maybe we can still help each other out.

do u currently have an ar15? if so, have u thought about just getting an ar9 upper and use the same lower? i use the same ar15 lower with 5 different calibers that can be switched in a matter of seconds.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Going with the universal upper will require Colt style magazines (and a spacer block?). Most dedicated 9mm ARs these days are built around the Glock magazine. You may care which way you go. 100-round Beta drums are available for either.

Aycehole - great idea but at this point I’d like to have two separate firearms but may consider something like that down the road as an additional option.

MAC702 - great point, I remember the glock mag option being ideal to get different sized / spare mags for relatively inexpensive costs. I will look for one that accepts Glock mags.

Unless you are partial to something else, dedicated Glock mag lowers are the way to go. They are ubiqitous and relatively cheap and you can pop a 33rd mag in that runs perfectly. I've had very good luck with the New Frontier C-9 and the older PSA (non-LRBHO). I've used the PSA w/LRBHO, and, like the QuarterCircle 10, which uses the same method for LRBHO, they work fine feeding and shooting, but the LRBHO itself is unreliable (at best). New Frontier's dedicated 9mm upper with LRBHO built in to the upper does work pretty well, however.

New Frontier also makes a 9mm lower that take MP5 magazines. PSA makes (or at least made) dedicated Colt Mag lowers (no-adapter) as well.

I have two, a PSA with a 10.5" and a ATI with a 5" barrel. Both have been flawless. Both use Glock magazines. My wife loves shooting the ATI one.

You definitely should get a cmmg bolt and barrel, because it uses a radial delayed blowback design and there is no way you can have an out of battery kaboom, unlike other AR9 uppers. Also the perceived recoil is significantly less than standard blowback 9s (which one would think doesn’t exist since it’s a 9mm). It is more expensive, but worth it IMO.

Just wanted to publicly follow up and say thanks again to everyone for the responses, recommendations and for the few that PM’d me offers. Unfortunately some unforeseen circumstances arose so I ended up not getting a chance to respond to the offers in time before the new laws kicked into gear.

After talking more with some folks (including one of our awesome forum sponsors; New Frontier Armory) and reading some of the recommendations in this and other threads I am leaning toward a side folding NFA C9 lower w/ 8” suppressor ready barrel, side charging upper, LRBHO (requires Glock style mags), iron sights and Aimpoint T1 or T2. If anyone has anything like this they want to sell for cheaper than what I can get it from NFA, feel free to PM me with the details and maybe we can still help each other out.

Instead of building am 9 mm AR pistol, I looked at the CMMG pistol, and went with the factory made gun. It uses the Colt pattern SMG magazines, which are easily obtainable from Brownells. I installed a Franklin Armory binary trigger, and it is like shooting two round burst from my former agency issued MP-5.

Those look good too  - my mind could be changed if you want to sell me yours for a decent deal ;)

Picked up a Kel-Tec Sub 2000 in 9mm. Takes Glock magazines. Kind of ugly, but it shoots good, folds up and plenty of stuff out there to customize it, besides, the Minister of Finance likes it!!

Those are definitely cool in their own respect, but I am pretty solid on the AR-9 at this point; the LEGO-like versatility of that platform is pretty appealing

I don't have any silly AR9's but I've got both the CZ Scorpion and the Ruger PCC if you ever want to shoot them. If the Ruger had come out first, I wouldn't have bothered with the Scorpion.
