I have a 2001 Yamaha V max with 36k miles on it
bike was running rough carbs were taken off and bike has sat for several years or seems.
I have all parts including factory carbs to make whole , tires in good shape

has small drip from oil cooler cover

If don’t really need another project right now so this can go.
Punch list: rebuild and sync carbs, fix oil leak, needs new battery, needs left rear blinker light.

1100.00 OBO

I would trade plus cash for a newer TTR 230 or CRF 250 must be electric start

I see them a few times a year.

Yamaha made them for 35 years (they came out when I was in high school, the motor was based on their then touring model motor - the Venture IIRC), with I think one major revision afaik.

Here is the post 2009 model:

OP - GLWS - could really be an awesome pickup for someone able to do the work themselves - really wish my wrenching abilities went beyond oil and spark plugs and adding farkles - have always wanted a VMax, but not looking for a project at the moment.

I remember when they first came out they were the most powerful street bike at the time. You really had to be a skilled rider to effectively handle that kind of power.

This would make a great winter project for someone

You still do.

Only thing that's changed is 200hp bikes are everywhere now.

As one who took a 25 year break from riding, the advancements and power of even modest newer machines is nothing short of amazing!

I think it's a big plastic tank that is actually under the seat - so should be easier to source and replace, or even just clean out, than a long sitting actual metal tank.

No, they are metal tanks. Thats the coolant tank you’re seeing.

Loved those, and the V65 Sabre too (I had a V45 Sabre).

Remember Jay "Pee-Wee" Gleason always set the fastest 1/4 mile times on the new production bikes of that era? All of the manufacturers used him to test their performance bikes.

Yeah I forget the specifics but IIRC the V65 set some Guinness records. I loved the V45 I had back then.

I bought this 750cc V45 Magna brand new and kept it for about five years. Wish I still had it. Solid rear wheel and shaft drive.
(not my actual bike but a representative picture of the same bike)

This is the only pic I have of my old magna and another build project I had. Not the greatest quality but that was back when you could only see your pics when you got them back from development.:ROFLMAO:

Those old Honda V4 engines just looked badass.

As does the V4 in the OP's bike - just roughly twice as big and twice as badass.

Oh my God....a film camera? You must be very old LOL 😂
