This is exactly why I passed on the item after we started discussions. He was adamant about paying with PP friends and family. I told him that was not an option as we’re not friends or family. Hopefully he comes through with the item for you. Too many ppl out there trying to separate us from our money. ? good luck
 
And traviscl got screwed out of a deposit on that scam PSL a couple months ago. Heads up, guys. It's a market ripe for scams.

Did we get a verifiable physical address in Elko County for this deal?
 
Crooks should ESAD.

Should be common knowledge, but NEVER do PayPal F&F with a stranger with little or no history or feedback on the forum you are dealing on.

I prefer face to face cash deals - both ways - as much as possible, but have bought stuff off of national gun and motorcycle forums many times, but ONLY when the seller has a good reputation and long history. Once bought from a guy who had been on a forum for awhile but didn't have any history in the marketplace - I offered to do PayPal, but NOT F&F, and I would pay the extra fees (just a few percent so not really a big deal, and well worth the peace of mind - as it protected me and would allow a refund if I was scammed) - seller had no problem with that (and if they did - THAT would be a red flag) and the item arrived in a few days.
 
We filter a (poop) ton of scammers out, but there will always be scammers. Be careful. I never ever send a payment that I cannot get back if it's a scam - unless I know the person I'm dealing with.
@vw68j if this is a scam, which it sounds like it is, I'm sorry this happened to you.
 
I bought some powder from a member in Mesquite a month ago and STILL haven't seen it! :ROFLMAO:
 
Not sure how anyone else talked to him but we went back and forth via text. Not expecting much to come from his phone number but it’s 530-287-2183. I texted “Michael” today and ask him if he was going to follow through with this deal or if he was going to be looking over his shoulder for the rest of his life. Nvr heard back from him.
Just too many red flags in his text messages for me. He did not talk like a gun guy he talked like a scammer.
Things that people should look out for….
More than twice he said “if you’re ready to proceed with the purchase” and “would you like to proceed” to me is just a red flag. Most gun people do not talk like that. Also, 3 times autocorrect changed Elko to Elmo from his texts. lol.
He did have the item though because I told him to send me a picture of the item with today’s date written on a piece of paper and he did…
And of course he tried to push Venmo and I told him there’s no buyer protection for Venmo and he went on to tell me how there was, but it’s a very rare deal where you have a business credit card with them. Just way too many red flags.
I do not look at a good price or deal as a red flag, because I have gotten such great deals on here, Reddit, Ebay, gun broker etc but sometimes just reading how they talk to you is red flag enough. Sadly the scammers are getting better and even buying PP goods and services is not a guaranteed thing anymore. There’s a lot of stories lately of people sending empty boxes or boxes with rocks just for the tracking number and then when you open a dispute with PayPal they take the side of the seller. They show a picture of them putting the item in a box and mailing it, and you show a picture of a box of rocks. Who are they supposed to believe?
Hopefully he’s reading this and he will make good on his word and not be a total POS.
 
Phone number is is an IP phone. Onvoy LLC is the carrier listed, which it means it could be a Google Voice number. IP phone = scam almost every time.

Text only and nothing else?? Nigerian prince looking to make a $. Wonder if he registered with a gmail or outlook account.

Good info! Yea I only talked to him thru text. I was the first dibs buyer that backed out. The actual buyer may have other info.
