Radar detectors in NV specifically Las Vegas

I too have used Valentine-1's on all my vehicles (cars+motorcycles) with complete satisfaction. I'm not proud to say I've received many speeding tickets, not sure how many precisely, I know I've fought 13 tickets total (not all speeding) and beat 11 of them (all of those were in California). Here in Nevada, I attended traffic court once on behalf of my son, and I watched a Mr. fix-it-ticket guy in court, he had a stack of probably 50 tickets, and he and the judge went through them all super fast, every single one was speeding and all of them the Judge marked down to parking violations, no negotiation, no lawyering involved. Same deal was given to all citizens in court that day representing themselves.

I'd guess the radar detectors have saved me from no less than 20-30 tickets over the years, mostly on the motorcycles.
Do the cops still tell you "Maybe next time, you'll think about speeding" even after pulling up your record? Mine is the same. Lots of speeding reduced to parking violations. Every once in awhile I'll hear a cop say something like that while giving me a ticket.

I was 16 when I got my first speeding ticket. Got pulled over for speeding (no ticket though) at 39. 23 years, many tickets, nothing has changed. Sadly I am probably over 20 speeding tickets, though not all of them in Vegas.

One of them was actually with a 9500xi. Stupid instant-on from a HP going down that barren US-93 got me at 92. Was only passing a car oncoming every 10 minutes and passed no one in my own lane. I guess he was bored.

Maybe LV Metro would be interested in putting it into a glass case in their lobby labeled "artifacts? He....he....!

LOL...In the glass case right next to the crack pipes, roach clips, rolling papers, syringes, and all the other 'criminal paraphernalia' confiscated from 'Reefer Madness' addicts. "It starts as an innocent puff on a joint at a party with friends. Eventually they end up with sophisticated electronics trying to hide their addiction to SPEED" - Joe Lamborghino, Sheriff.

Well then, out in the trash it goes.

Still run an Escort 9500i..my car tends to attract attention, it has saved me more then once.

I have the same one. I really debated on this one or the Valentine. Went with this and set up the phone app and run them in conjunction. Couldn't be happier as it has paid for itself many times over. I get plenty of warning well before I can even see them. Its not like I run 15 to 20 over, but usually 5 to 10 depending on what I am driving. The wifes car attracts lots of attention, my dually not so much.

Here is my suggestion, just don't speed. I've never received a speeding ticket because I never speed. I drive the speed limit and let all the dumb dumbs go around me. I also use cruise control whenever I can.
I use cruise control as well. Especially traveling. There is a point where cruise control won't work though on certain cars at certain speeds.

My Sports Car does not have cruise control. I found a great app for use on my iPhone.

You can set the speed limit you are comfortable with to avoid a ticket and will let you know when you have exceeded YOUR Limit!

The app is Speedometer

Damn cruise control on the big Ram dually only goes to 85.

I don't mind those who don't care if people pass. As long as everyone gets to pass on the left. That a-hole at 60 in the middle of three lanes is the most dangerous driver on the highway.

I know my 2016 1500 Ram will utilize cruise above 100. Idk the limit though. Usually don’t have the cruise past about 90 unless no one is out early morning on a long drive.

Not much CC usage in town these days. One thing I miss about corona time was the empty freeways and police who were scared to pull anyone over. The 100mph train of 4-6 cars in town were special when we first shut down.

Last time I drove the 95 to Reno I noticed the NHP was was leaving their radar off, but would suddenly flip it on at the last minute against oncoming traffic. I assume a lot of people on 95 must have detectors and the NHP is changing tactics a bit.
I was on a motorcycle from Yerington to Schurz to Fallon and back to Reno just a few days ago. Since you also sometimes use 95, I will mention . . . .

U.S. 95 will be closed between Fallon, Nevada and Schurz, Nv April 19-29, 2021.

U.S. 95 will be closed between Fallon and Schurz April 19-29 as the Nevada Department of Transportation reconstructs a section of highway.

• Between 7a.m. April 19 and 7a.m. April 29, U.S. 95 will be closed between the Fallon landfill (one and a half miles south of Top Gun Raceway) and the rodeo grounds north of Schurz as crews reconstruct a section of highway.

• As the highway opens on April 29 through approximately May 9, traffic delays of up to 30 minutes will be in place as pilot cars detour alternating directions of traffic through the work zone and crews finalize reconstruction.

Nearly one dozen electronic highway message signs will be placed across the region advising drivers of the closure. Motorists are advised to use alternate highways and plan additional travel time while detouring the closure. The road work schedule is subject to change based on weather and other factors.

Crews will work 24-7 during the closure to excavate 10 feet of highway, and reinforce and compact a 2,000-foot section of the highway base before repaving. The reconstruction will help reinforce the deteriorating roadway base to provide a smoother and safer drive for motorists.

I don't know anyone that runs radar and stops ONLY for speed at 5-10 over, unless it is a school zone. Traffic guys are usually 15. I would do nothing less than 20, unless in a school zone.

I will do 5-8 over on the freeways. No radar detector and haven't been stopped in a personal vehicle for over 20 years (in this country).

Only 2 places I don't speed..... School Zones and small towns on a highway (like Searchlight).

That 35 zone through Pahrump on 160 is usually pretty well patrolled.

I HATE motorcycle cops. I’m 22 and haven’t had a single ticket until a couple months ago. And of course it was a motorcycle. I knew my fate the second I saw him.

They always happen to be on the empty backroad streets where they know you’ll do atleast 10 over

My grandfathers 66 Buick had a second needle you could set on the speedo. When you reached the set speed a buzzer went off. He always kept it set about 90mph.

Dodge needs it for its new Truck. My son's company has purchased 7 Dodge TRX's to export to Australia.

702 HP Supercharged 6.2 Liter HEMI in a Truck is just Crazy.

I honestly lose respect for cops who are actively engaged in speeding ticket racket preying on innocent drivers while people on the streets are getting robbed and properties are getting broken into.

The best speeding ticket cops are in Canada (at least was 6 yrs ago):
"Sir, youre driving 80 in 40 zone, but i'll write you 50 and it will only be $80 fine". Sold! I felt like giving cop a tip.

Second best are in Panama:
Him: "Sir, you're driving above speed limit and here's your ticket. You have to pay $50 fine by going to some special government office."
Me: "Can i just give you $50?"
Him: "Ok, sure"

Worst are in CA. You just cannot pay your way out of it easy.

Pay experience with NHP was great. Driving my Competition Subaru on Hwy 50 between Lake Tahoe and Carson City. I was doing 30 over the 50 mph limit and he wrote me for 55 mph. Luckily the wife was with me as I have done that stretch testing the racing suspension.

Where do cops prey on “innocent” drivers? If a driver is breaking the law, then they aren’t ”innocent”. If the cop is pulling people over that aren’t breaking the law then I would understand that statement but I haven’t heard of an instance of this happening.
Would you mind clarifying?

I always get speeding tickets you can look them up on the court’s website and they will post the fines and if you go to traffic school it will reduce it to a parking ticket this is the same way ticket busters does it I once used a lawyer I paid them 100 so I wouldn’t have to go to traffic school. I will look for the link for the court you can look up anyone’s records criminal or traffic

Sure. This is my clarification:
“…while people on the streets are getting robbed and properties are getting broken into.”.

When law enforcement choose to move resources away from criminal activity where real humans are victims toward victimless but more monetary rewarding violations - that’s a BS. No respect.
Solve all crimes where people are hurt and then ticket us to no end.
Ask Biden to print more money, not me.

He was referring to the “innocent” part. Breaking the posted speed limit and getting caught does not make a person a “innocent driver”.

All things are relative, including innocence. Most of us are uncaught felons, sometimes not even knowing of what law.

You can add Montana to that list. If you are doing less than 10 over (more or less depending on cop) they will give you a ticket you can pay on the spot. The last few times I paid it was 20 bucks. It was also considered a waste of natural resources rather than a speeding ticket. I am sure times have changed there and it is more now. Back in the day it was a 5 dollar fine.
