why the thumb safety? A striker pistol doesn’t need a safety.

One can argue no pistol NEEDS a safety, but it's independent of action type. Can be lots of reasons for the extra one, though, especially if carried or placed in places without a holster, or if in a job where weapon retention even has a possibility of being an issue.

I personally like them so I wont shoot my nuts off due to how i carry front waist.Heard a few horror stories. Also handy if you want to put in a jacket pocket etc. Not to hijack thread but I also been looking for one for a while. The sig xl just came out with one.

a pistol in a good holster won’t go off regardless of a safety or not. I’ve seen them on 1911 style pistols because of the relatively light single action style trigger. On other firearms, like your DA/SA, DA only, and striker pistols, they’re not necessary and add undue complexity, IMHO. However there is nothing “wrong” with having one.

Good luck finding one if that’s what you decide what you want.

It will be my dads first striker gun, he has always had a hammer style. I think a mix between that and reading about the 320 drop failures have him a little spooked

Armslist has one for 510$ through ffl dealer.

Check out Northwest Arms on Craig and Tenaya. They had several P365 models, don't know if they had a safety model or not as I wasn't interested in that. I picked up a P365 NRA Edition for $619 on Saturday. They had a good stock in general of pistols.
