"Members who seek to derail, interfere or degrade ("THREAD CRAPPING") another members WTS/WTB thread will lose their Trading Post privileges indefinitely and may be subject to infraction points. Repeated offenders will be banned.

If you do not feel the price is appropriate or the product offered is sub-par, keep it to yourself. Let the buyer decide and the seller respond in kind. Do not try and negatively influence a sale."

I don't care if somebody is selling a 10/22 for $8,000. Do not post in people's for sale threads unless you are interested in buying it.

The trading post is very different from all of the other open forums. If you aren't interested in buying the item listed then just stay out of the thread. No comments needed or free bumps. Just stay out and move on. Let the seller handle his own FS thread with real potential buyers.

I see a lot more of this (positive comments and free bumps) than I do threadcrapping, including by active mods. If positive comments and associated free bumps are prohibited, that should (IMHO) apply to all participants and be a part of the forum rules. I don't think it's covered right now.

Just read the rules that everyone should have agreed to before participating in the TP and this little gem from above.

Do not post in people's for sale threads unless you are interested in buying it.
Also you don't see many of the thread craps because an active mod has probably deleted it within a few minutes of it being posted but we can still see those comments on our screens and the action that was taken. I know that when I post an item for sale I don't really want a bunch of chit chat as it detracts from my purpose. I think many others here feel the same way. What is so hard to understand about the concept of "mind your own business" in the Trading Post?

Agree whole heartedly. I find the "This is a great deal. Can't believe it hasn't sold yet" comments to be unhelpful and distracting.

My points were (1) positive comments and free bumps about a listing are not prohibited by the forum rules; (2) mods do it; and (3) if the forum grandees deem it inappropriate, it should be covered by the rules and uniformly enforced.

Well as my mom told me growing up "just because someone else did it does that make it right" or "if your friend jumped off of a building would you". For ever rule written someone is trying to find a way around it. The rule does say that "interfering" is considered thread crapping but then we could go down the road of what does that mean. I'm not here to argue with you or anyone else because it won't go anywhere.

Do not post in people's for sale threads unless you are interested in buying it.

I think we should re-visit this slightly. I don't think thread crapping is okay, but at the same time when there is an item that is grossly over-priced or is negligent in some other way, maybe the seller needs to be educated. And it also is helpful to protect buyers, especially when we are "looking out for our own" when some guy with five posts is selling a homemade AR-15 for more than a brand new Noveske, for instance. It's doing a service to the long-time members of the board to make sure that they know what they're jumping into.

If you feel it is up to you to educate the seller, do so by Private Message. Otherwise, it is considered "Thread Crapping".
