Not being an expert I don't know exactly what you mean there's a quarter inch hole or so when you look down into the handle.

He’s talking about the take down and pivot pin on the bottom of the receiver, where it attaches to the lower receiver.

Are the two holes shown by the arrows the same size, or is the front one bigger than the rear?

The holes are the same size I had forgotten about the bushings that are required sometimes.
