The money isn't "from" the state or the feds. It's from the taxpayers. You are ignoring that someone ELSE is paying for your car. What's so right about that? Do CA and the Feds have such a surplus budget in well-invested coffers that the OTHER people who live there are perfectly fine with helping to fund your luxury car? I should probably be offended that you would brag about such a thing outside of that socialist crap hole you are so proud of (but live outside of when its convenient for you).
$2500 less to fund the San Francisco Poo Patrol..

Depends on how you look at it.

I paid more than $5,000.00 in just CA sales tax to buy the car. Also the registration fees, etc. So I get a little less than half of my own money back from the State of CA.

And I pay the feds a lot more than 5K$ per year in federal income taxes. I am glad to get a little of my own money back. Less than half, in that case as well.

And I am a tax payer as well as you. So even I paid for the cars of others, if you look at it that way.

But I also pay for the kids of others, I have none myself. And countless other things. So what is right about that? We could probably go on about such stuff all day.

That comes from SF property tax. And with the average dumpy house costing more than a million bucks in SF, that is a lot of money in revenue.

SF is self-supporting in most ways.
