hey guys, mem day weekend, i took my step dad shooting at a range in cali, we were visiting fam etc,
he always bugged me about when i was going to take him shooting, and he might be interested in a handgun for home protection and his buissness here in reno. so we rented the glock 17,19,21,22, and the 26, sig 226, and a smith 1911 .45/ soon as he picked up the smith 1911, he fell in love, now he wants to get one now heres the question, what gun store in reno/sparks carry's a good selection of 1911s? he would like to get the same one, this is the one we rented btw ![]() so tomorrow we were going to do some shopping around, who here in town carry's a good selection of 1911s?

I can't speak to any of the independent gun stores, but when I was there on Thursday, Scheels had an outstanding selection of 1911s, ranging from Kimber, Springfield, Taurus, Sig, etc...
I'd give them a look. I picked up a Kimber Crimson Custom Carry II for about $1045 on sale. I notice that their prices ranged from about $800 for a Taurus 1911 clear to $1200 for a Sig 1911.

I can't believe how expensive these 1911s are. But, inexpensive ones seem to be hard to fine. The cheapest I have found recently in stainless was a Springfield and it was around $800-$900 NIB.

Taurus 1911 is all I would buy in terms of a "cheap 1911". Quality and feature wise it is up there with Kimbers, the only thing "Cheap" about the Taurus PT1911 is the finish. Fit is amazing and mine shoots better than most other 1911s Ive shot. At $575, they cant be beat.

i wonder if HK will ever make a 1911 or have they already? i keep trying to tel my step dad to get a sig or an HK, but he keeps insiting on the .45acp round, as man stoppers and will work well than others.,
but since hes a newbie, i always tell him its about bullet placement over ballistics

I purchased a S&W1911PD pistol, which I love, but I'm thinking about selling it so that I can purchase a Kimber Gold Match 1911 (about $1500+). My S&W is in NRA Perfect condition (appears new in appearence and function). I've fired approx. 500 rounds throught it, so it is just broken in. The only modification I had done was to replace the front site with a yellow fiber optic one. The PD model comes with white dot rear sites and an alum. alloy lower, which makes it much lighter than an all steel pistol. It comes with factory case, documents, old site, and two magazines. My price is $1000, which saves you the cost of the front site and installation, federal check ($25) and sales tax.
