Default Greetings

Howdy All,

I'm an Army veteran married to another Army veteran, and we've only recently moved to the Reno area. We're both geologists and firearm/2nd Amendment enthusiasts (obviously), looking for places to shoot and opportunities to improve and educate ourselves.

I'm actually very interested in getting involved with the local IDPA, if there are any members here.

P.S. No I didn't get my nickname from that atrocious movie , and yes I have read and love the series.

Welcome to NS.

Re: IDPA. There are two clubs in Northern Nevada. The Carson City one meets at the Carson City range (in the back) on the second and fourth Sunday of each month.

The Reno one is a part of the Western Nevada Pistol League. Its IDPA match is usually on the Saturday after the club's Sunday USPSA match. See the WNPL website for scheduling because sometimes dates change.

See you at the range!

Thanks Ramone,

I had looked into the local IDPA club and the WNPL, a couple of months back. I emailed a request for info, but never got a reply. I was confused about the membership application, and the difference between the national, the local affiliation, and the WNPL.

IDPA (the national organization) requires you to be a member to shoot the matches at any level. For your first match, you do not have to be a member of the national organization, but after the first match you do. WNPL though does not require you to join its club to participate in the local matches. The Carson City club does not have any local club dues. Your IDPA membership is considered sufficient.
