Default Is it worth $2,000?

I am working on a trade with a guy and he says this gun is worth $2,000. I would take it in trade just to resell so could I get $2,000 and is there a market for this gun? I looked on gunbroker and it looks like one guy was asking $1,000 and another $2,000 so there is quite a spread and I have not seen the gun yet but it is suppose to be in really good shape. I don't know what scope and if it did not come on the gun I assume it takes away on the value?

Good luck with that one. I don't think there are too many people in the market for a gun like that.

If he says it's worth $2k, let him sell it and give you the cash.

I met a guy a few months ago who wanted to trade me a hot rodded '68 Chevy PU for my '63 Harley. When the truck wouldn't even make it here, I told him never mind. Sell it and bring me cash.

We have been working on a deal on my vacant mobile home for a week or so and at my asking price I was willing to take his gun and horse trailer as part payment but then he low balled me and I accepted based on a cash deal only. Now he wants to do the trade on the cash price with me taking his trade items. I offered to let him rent the place and then buy when he sold his stuff but he didn't like that. Hopefully people coming out from Vegas today will rent it.

Thanks for the help.

Did the ones on gunbroker sell and if so how much?
The rifle most likely did not come scoped in it's original configuration, so it's been "bubba-fied" and that drops the value for sure. Even if the thing has value, the economy stinks so much to high heaven it would be difficult to find a buyer.

I don't care what guys are ASKING for them, it's wht you'd be willing to pay.

Look at the guns on gunbroker and gunasamerica; if you think you'd pay $1000 or more for one (when you could have a Mauser 98 or Springfield 1903A3 for a lot less), then make the deal.

The guy sounds shifty, and I expect that you would have problems with him as your tenant.

Good luck in attempting a resell for any high value weapon unless it is in high demand. You have to have the right buyer, a buyer willing to pay the $2k in this economy, and that's hard to do with a classic piece like this.

If you want the rifle and earn it through a trade, awesome. Taking it to resell? You'll be housing it in your safe for quite a while.

When sellers know their gun isn't worth that much they usually say something like that just to make it seem like youre getting a steal. Do your research and see what those are going for just see its current value.

I dont shoot most i own.
If you do, dont expect it to sell fast and make sure to market it correctly.

Chances are if somebody says something is worth X amount during a trade, use this equation.
x/2=y y/1.5=z
Z is usually the amount you will get for it after you get sick of seeing it, and take the first lowball offer that comes in. So by this equation that 2k rifle would probably sell for 666.6$. So like $650.
There will ALWAYS be that one guy that sends you a rediculously lowball number too, but since they're the only person to respond you think, "Well obviously it's not gonna go for more." This is how I buy most things VIA craigslist like guitars. As an example I have bought, and resold three Gibsons that were worth ~$1200-$2000 yet I didn't pay more than $300 for any of them.
