Default whats your favorite military/war movie?

Did a search for military/war related movies with no luck

I watched Act of Valor last night and I thought it was a good movie regardless of all the negative reviews.

Just wondering what's everyone's favorite when it comes to this catergory of movies and/or documentaries

ive seen some of the major flicks like black hawk down, saving private ryan, etc.

also watched Restrepo on netflix and thought that was a good documentary!

Seen at lot of those, great movies.
Military channel runs "An Officer and a Movie" on Saturdays, though they seem to take weeks to get a new one and just replay old ones most of the time.
Memphis Belle, PT 109 isn't bad, In Harms Way and 50 others John Wayne is in, the Great Raid is ok, Tuskegee Airmen and Red Tails, Flight of the Intruder...
Band of Brothers Europe, haven't watched all off Pacific yet. (Yes I know I need to!)
History channel series Enterprise 360 is awesome and Patton 360 is good.

Tried to watch the Thin Red Line once, boring wanted to kill myself.

Ok since we are this topic. Years ago (I was probably around ten) I watched a movie on TV. It was about a B17 crew flying over Europe and something happened to the ball turret and they could not get the guy out. On final approach the landing gear wouldn't go do so they had to do a belly landing. At the last minute one of the crew (a cartoonist) drew a picture of a B17 landing gear which then appeared on their aircraft and were able to make a safe landing. What movie is it?>

My my, I think I just have to say +1 to most of the above. "Full Metal Jacket" is just a classic. Love the propaganda spins of "Starship Troopers". "Black Hawk Down" was an interesting portrayal of that true event. "Jarhead" was pretty funny from the standpoint of the guys being sent out there to stand around and 'hydrate' amongst the other MC recommendations for alleviating boredom. "The Hurt Locker" was really cool along that same genre of the modern war stories. Loved the "Restrepo" documentary as well.

Black Hawk Down reminds me of Resident Evil 5. The Somolians are like a horde of zombies closing in on them

Yup, it's on Netflix streaming too. I actually just watched that recently, and I also saw it when it first aired.
