Default Reloadable 7.62X39 ammo

Thinking about reloading my AK47 ammo. What ammo should I buy that is good to reload?

Thanks

You're stuck with American brands (Rem., Fed, and Win.) and that runs close to $1 each for loaded factory ammo in boxer primed cases. That's the down side. If you pro-rate the cost of brass over the number of reloads, it gets pretty reasonable, since the round is pretty easy on brass.
When you first start, try only a few soft points, to make sure that they don't hang up on the breech face. I tried loading for a pair of SKS's, and they both refused to run soft point bullets. If it does work, knock yerself out.
I didn't see 7.62x39 listed on his site, but check with brassman anyway. If he doesn't have any, he prob knows where to send you.

Most AK's dent or "kiss" the hell out of brass, you may want to buy a small box of brass ammo first and see how it goes before commiting to anything. Some people mod their dust covers and cover their charging handles in an effort to stop this but YMMV. Lots of posts about this on the saiga forums.

I priced everything out and it just doesn't seem worth the effort right now..... who knows what the future may bring so I think I will just keep my eyes open for brass and get it when I find a steal. Thanks

Good luck. I've been actively looking hard for brass in the Sloan areas, and in about 4 years, I've found maybe 200 pcs. of boxer primed 7.62x39. I pass on a lot of 9mm and .223 brass, altho that's what I load, and still I have a LOT more than I need. I think it's best to just stock what you feel comfortable with in the Brown Bear for your AK. It's still cheap at Cheaper than dirt.

PVI should have some brass. I tried reloading for this ammo but it's a challenge to look for the bullets. Reloading these rounds probably will get you the best accuracy and or consistency for your rifle and you are safe from the market price instability... I am not using my AK47 for precision shooting but for CQB so the Wolf, BB and Tula works for me for now and I bought these off of here at a good price...
