i can't find my pix, so i'll haveto drag moy scout rifle out and take some. can't do that rght now, it's a bit dark out.

i used model aircraft spraypaint, but you could do the same thing with cheap Rustoleium rattlecans from WM. i used desert tan and what wss supposed to be OD, but it's more like "sage green" or "foliage green". i had considered adding some thin brown lines on top of the base pattern, but didn't think i'd need it after seeing how well the simple pattern worked.

i painted the stock tan, then masked it off with the rough edged of masking tape to give me a total of 7 bands of color from one end of the stock to the other.

it seems that it doesn't really matter if it's a battle ship, a truck, a man or a rifle, if you can break something up into 7 chunks along it's length it does a very good job of hiding the shape.

fewer or more stripes don't seem to help. i've seen plenty of rifles done in "woodland", "chocolate chip" and various digital patterns and they don't seem to hide as well.

i've had people trip over this thing at the range! yes, it was on the firing line... ye know, where you'd EXPECT a rifle to be and they still tripped over it.

and the first time i took pics of it, i put it down, turned to walk away and turned back around and it was dang hard to see, even tho the barreled action and scope didn't have any paint on them.

I had one done up in basic ninja camo. Problem is that when I take a picture of it, you don't see it..

*There isn't a place called Black Mesa, NV. It's a fictitious Government research facility in a 1998 PC video game released by Sierra Studios named Half-Life. In which this facility closely resembles the aura of covert experimentation that surrounds the Nevada Testsite and the hero loosely based on Bob Lazar.

I used Aervoe paint , available at Hahn's in Norftown or Twin City in Reno and made in Gardnerville, which is a double win. Lots of colors to choose from in their camo line.
This one is done in earth yellow, earth red, earth brown, and olive.

Nice feet, monkeyboy.

That carbine looks awfully familiar.

And so does the buttstock mag pouch for that matter.
