.283 Winchester semi-auto rifle???

Anyone here heard of this rifle .283 winchester? Supposedly it is rare and only a few were made in semi-auto.

Winchester did make a semi auto, the model 100, that was available in the
.284 Winchester Caliber.

The Model 100 came out back in 1962 or 63, can't remember for sure. They made a few of them, most common chamberings were in the .243 and .308 calibers. Most were in the .243 and .308, so the ones in .284 Winchester are kind of collectible these days.

The Model 100 out of production in the early 70's, like 1972 or 73, I think it was only produced for about 10 years total.
Pretty decent guns, well liked by most folks, although as I recall they could be finicky about ammo, both from a reliability stand point and an accuracy standpoint.

I was thinking .243 Winchester but my buddy said it's a ".283 Winchester." I'm gonna ask him again to make sure.

He finally admitted that it is a .243 win.
