Default gun trader

The first and only time I have been in the Gun Trader I was told I was an idiot. I asked them if they knew any local smiths who could true up a Rem 700 and chamber it in 6.5-284. They asked me why I wanted to re-chamber my 30-06 into a 6.5-284 and I said I like reaching out and touching things very far away, like coyotes, targets etc. I was immediately told that I was dumb for switching away from the '06 and the 6.5-284 will burn up my barrel and that I was making a bad decision. I didn't ask for their opinion on the new cartridge, I wanted some information on local gunsmiths. To really ice the cake they tried sell me some other rifle and caliber I had no interest in.

It sounds like they need to work on their people skills.

After spending a lot of money there, I'm sorry to say, I'll NEVER set foot in there again. Nuff said.

And their "lifetime warranty" is a shell game. They get reimbursed by the manufacturers for the work they do, and it's the manufacturer who's giving you the warranty. They're just a licensed smith for the ones they sell.
I'm sorry, but I also share the above opinions based on personal experience.

In direct contrast, I've never been treated better, or with more respect than by the folks at Mark Fore and Strike.

Default Been There

I've been to the Gun Trader exactly 3 times and will never set foot in the place again. Every time I've been there I have dealt with the same guy (the owners son I've been told but I don't know) and he has been arrogant, condescending, and belittling. The last straw was when I popped in to get a couple of boxes of CorBon Pow R Ball and was told, "We don't carry that frangible crap here. Anyone who uses that stuff is an idiot."

"Uh, Pow R Ball isn't frangible," I replied.

"Well, you obviously don't know what you're talking about. Let me fill you in here."

"No thanks. Third time's the charm." And I walked out for the last time.

we should print out every post in this thread and drop it off with them one day.

Maybe it'll get through to them.

Or they'll just start badmouthing the forum to everyone who will listen...

I had similar experiences, here is an updated version of a review I posted on Google...

I purchased three firearms from these guys when I was kinda green, before I knew I had so many other options; and by the time I was through they had my skin crawling. They have an obvious "holier than thou" vibe, are full of condescending remarks and on my last visit they even insulted me in front of my wife, who was shocked. On top of that I later learned that I paid a premium, and I could have saved nearly $400 on the 3 guns by shopping elsewhere in town. They obviously have issues, I'm a pretty easy guy to deal with so I guess they only want guys with as much "high and mighty" as they do shopping there. It has been over two years since then, and I now know that they have the smallest selection and the biggest egos in town. Avoid like the plague.

Thumbs down Gun Trader

I know I'm new here & all and I hear my Grandmother in my head: " If you don't have anything nice to say..." But in hopes of helping others avoid issues...
I have purchased a few times in there, including my last XD, but will not go back unless I absolutely have to. The heavy-set guy in there (owner's son, I dunno) and an older gent (owner?) both have given me so much grief, I will take my biz elsewhere. I have been shooting, reloading & amateur gunsmithing for more than 30 years & I might just know a thing or two. With these guys you have to always be on your toes, ready for the verbal sparring. They know more than you do (but had never heard of LMT as an AR parts company, so of course, "those low-quality fly-by-night companies only make crap") and on and on and oh, by the way, "if you build a rifle from those crap parts & buy a legal receiver on a 4473 you are guilty of tax fraud, don't you know, sonny." Sheesh! I am too old for that kind of treatment and frankly work too hard for my $ to give it to boobs. Besides, Sportsman's Warehouse has better prices.
Wow! End of rant, sorry. I just hate that kind of gunshop.

Default No Gun Trader For Me

I'm a newbie to this forum and handguns in general. I'm just starting my search for a firearm for personal protection. Your comments have effectively steered me away from The Gun Trader. Good customer service goes a long way toward attracting a loyal clientele, and happy customers drive business toward quality sellers. Because of their bad feedback on this forum, the guys at The Gun Trader lost a sales opportunity before they met me in person.
