My wife and I do all our gun shopping at The Gun Trader on Plumb Lane in Reno. The people in there are very nice and informative. Also, they warranty all the guns they sell for life as long as you keep the gun well maintained and don't shoot crap ammo through it. When you buy a gun, they'll field strip and lube it for you right there in front of you so that you know how to do it right. We've spent nearly $5k in there since moving to Reno about a year and a half ago. It's a great place to shop!

My mother said, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."
So, I'll simply say I don't share your high opinion of the Gun Trader. |

Howdy Mr. President I'm going to second the opinion shared by varminter22. I've never been treated well in that store because of two reasons: I like Glocks, and I don't like spending $1000 minimum on any other firearm. And their "lifetime warranty" is a shell game. They get reimbursed by the manufacturers for the work they do, and it's the manufacturer who's giving you the warranty. They're just a licensed smith for the ones they sell.

I have to agree with the above two post's. Every time I went to the
Gun Trader, I was told what gun I needed to buy or that the gun I wanted was garbage. Well they will not be getting any of my business. |

Been gun shopping the Reno area for about 15 years and have yet to have anything that could be described as a pleasant experience in there. have been treated as a novice/moron unknowing idjit, which was fine when i was 21, but that schtick has gotten old and my personal favorite experience is as follows:
A very dear friend of mine was an absolute gun FANATIC. He always wanted a Charter Arms .44spl bulldog, and there weren't at the time, many other options in that size and caliber. So when he picked one up, we headed out to find some leather for it. The gun Trader was our first stop, and when the counter guy asked if he could help, my buddy responded that he wanted to look through the holsters to find something for his new toy. The counter guy's response was priceless: "Why would anyone carry one of those?". Mind you, my friend was legally concealing an HK P7M13, so he knows and appreciates guns of all flavors and price ranges. We turned around and left. I pop in occasionally just to see if things have changed. the only thing that seems to change is what brand they are hawking as "the best while all others are crap". |

In direct contrast, I've never been treated better, or with more respect than by the folks at Mark Fore and Strike. |

I've been to the Gun Trader exactly 3 times and will never set foot in the place again. Every time I've been there I have dealt with the same guy (the owners son I've been told but I don't know) and he has been arrogant, condescending, and belittling. The last straw was when I popped in to get a couple of boxes of CorBon Pow R Ball and was told, "We don't carry that frangible crap here. Anyone who uses that stuff is an idiot."
"Uh, Pow R Ball isn't frangible," I replied. "Well, you obviously don't know what you're talking about. Let me fill you in here." "No thanks. Third time's the charm." And I walked out for the last time. |
