Welcome!

There are more than a few of us here who are active Hams.
Someday we need to start up a regular weekly Nevada Shooters Net, either on the local repeaters or on HF.

I have about 1.5 hours of study done with the online ham exam, works well. I forgot how much of a geek I am with the formulas and technical data. Just seeing E = I X R got the cobwebs dusted off.

My wife always says I should been an engineer instead of a beancounter. Maybe next career when I retire.

Reminder, this Saturday, 14 July 2012, from 0900 to 1100 , ARRL Message and Radio Traffic Handling class in Pahrump, followed at 12 noon by VE Exams for licensing, and upgrades to licenses already held.

You need not be an Amateur Radio Operator to take the message/radio traffic handling class, although it will make a bit more sense if you are a HAM already, or are studying to take the test to become a HAM.

Nye County Emergency Management Operations Center, 1510 Siri Lane, Parhump, NV.

Take 160 to Pahrump, at the third stoplight (Basin Ave) turn right (East) go up to Floyd Ave, turn left onto Floyd Ave. The Sheriffs Office and Court House will be on your left at this point.

Floyd bends to the left and becomes Siri Lane, the Emergency Op Center is on the right side, on the North East Corner of Siri Lane and Kittyhawk. It sits next to the Nye County Sheriff's Impound lot, and is directly across the street from the Nye County Animal Shelter.

Look for the yellow sign on the gate announcing that Amateur Radio Testing will be conducted there.

Call 775-513-8632 from 0900 to 2100 hours any day between now and then if you get lost or need further directions / information.

Iweb, see ya then and there!

You are welcome to take the message handling class if you like, starts at 0900, coffee and donuts.........ends at 1100,,,,,,,at least 2 of us giving the class are VE's, Electronics Engineers, and Extra Class Ticket holders, so if you have questions, between 11 and 12 is the time to ask them.

Be sure to bring a photo ID, or two non photo ID's and $15 for the test, which starts at 12 Noon.

Saw a truck in the parking lot at work with no less than 12 antenna mounts on his truck. Not all had antennas and I'm including the am/fm and satellite radio antennas that came stock, but I'm at a loss to understand why he would have that many antenna mounts. Wish I could have asked him, but didn't know who it was.
