Question Why is Mineral County so messed up?

Their fire department keeps losing people, the Sheriff's department keeps losing deputies and the whole Board of Commissioners have scandal and corruption problems.

Anyone live there? Why does this county purposely do things backwards and wants corruption?

Maybe they want to make it a comfortable place for Californians to move to?

I think part of the retention problem is the pay. The Sheriffs Department has only so much in the budget. When a deputy goes to POST and gets his/her certificate, they can then pretty much transfer to any agency in the state, especially those that pay more money.

It's my understanding the fire department is a volunteer department?

Thats not it. The corruption and scandals have nothing to do with California. Mineral County makes their own problems.

Thats not it. Its more of a mentality of they want to keep the town small, no growth and no progress. Its bad management and leadership at the top.

Somewhat true. Actually the deputies are tired of the corruption and bad management and leadership from the county that they just straight up leave.

And the Fire Department is a combination with paid and volunteer staff. The problem is that the poor management of the county wont let the department move forward or progress. They are still stuck in the 1960s and that is why people are leaving. The place just sucks.

My nephew is a volunteer on the F.D. up there. He works for N.D.O.T.

I was just up there (and Schurz) for a funeral.

I'm sorry you're multi-layer question was not so easily answered. My question is why do you care, you live in California? And if you do live in California, why don't you stay out of politics in Nevada. You people have screwed your own state up enough, stay the hell away from ours!
