They go on the same trust unless you have some special circumstance that calls for a second trust.

Default adding family members from different states

I ran up a crazy amount of debt transitioning from the military to civilian. Bankruptcy a possibility in the future, maybe. I have family in a couple different states. Some allow my toys some don't.
Can we put all our different guns in one trust no matter that we live in different states and have our assets protected in case of brother gets a divorce, second marriage dad dies, I go bankrupt in the future? And not put our jointly owned assets at risk, i.e.: I go bankrupt and my dad and brother loose their portion or Dad dies and my and my brothers guns open to my step-mother...?

The answer is...it depends. A trust is its own legal entity, much like a corporation or LLC. Thus, it has its own assets. A court can potentially require you to pull assets out of the trust, again depending on the circumstances. The court is looking at whether you just threw some assets in a trust and then the next day filed a BK.

But overall it is doable and not a bad idea.
