The standard Military Silhouette is pre 1946, but we also have the Open and ODQ classes. An AR could legally compete in either one. The Open class will be limited to a 4x scope or a variable dialed down to at least 4. The real issue is that a 223 will not take down rams and might not take down turkeys. If 1/4 or 1/2 of your hits don't count for score it seriously limits the fun quotient.

Default North VS South

I started a thread under Shooters Corner/ Events for a North VS South long range competition for next year. I have contacted Joe Comfort of SinCityPrecision and there is interest in the south. Pass the word. Let me know on the other thread if you are interested.

Dave, thanks for your input and clarification on the military CoF.

Team Excuse rollin' back from Sacramento after winning the early relay in the Black Friday team match. Good for $175. Monayyy oh yeah!

Uncle Bill's cheater gun shot really well and saved a lot of points. I shot the DTACs and Chuck shot Lapua 139's in his Creedmoor.

OK, been playing with the 2012 data a little. I'm still mulling the exact handicap values, but here are the raw totals and averages for the Field Ready class this year.

There are no prizes for these stats, I've simply marked the top 5 in each category as follows: Blue = 1st, Red = 2nd, Yellow = 3rd, Green = 4th, Purple = 5th

This is a good way to look at your progress (if you haven't been keeping track on your own!) and see where you might try to improve.

Personally, I think my biggest problem is the Crow. It's a vertical dispersion issue that I have partially remedied with changes to the ammo loading procedure, but also with my rifle support technique.

"totals" is the RAW total animals of each type knocked over, regardless of number of matches participated in.

"average1" is the average animals of each type knocked over (SUM divided by number of matches participated in), cut off for all shooters participating in 3 or more matches.

"average2" is the same thing, but with all shooters that came at least twice.
