Default Mossberg 500 "basket case"

Hi all,

just wanted to show before and after pic's of my mossberg 500 i'm trying to restore to "original" when i got it.....it has this horrible tan spray paint job I haven't got to the after yet though i got a good deal on the gun and i'm hoping to bring it's value back up to something approaching what a used 500 should go for and to make it look better then what it looks like now the FFL was laffing @ me because of what it looked like on the outside it cycles snapcaps just fine and when i pulled the barrel off it was clean as a whistle.. I have used some citristrip on the front of the barrel and it looks promising

If U'll want to laff too that's ok
Bruce

Yep, a mossberg that works is really all that matters. If you enjoy the process of bringing the finish back from the damned I totally understand. On the other hand, a Mossy probably doesnt have alot of refurbish/value potential. If that were mine, it would recieve a new coat of krylon to cover up the abortioned mess, after all its a gun not an artwork canvas like the last guy thought.

Heck, I think once you get the krylon off ... The finish underneath might be original

Yeah if it works then great.

I had an AK that I bought that had a coat of Krylon. Some graffiti remover, rubber gloves and a sponge/toothbrush did the trick.

Nice to see that someone else likes to adopt poor, abused firearms! Good job so far, keep it up. Looking forward to seeing the final product.
