Not sure how long the back order is but there should not be one if they would take care of customers. Known issue with the part on back order is ridiculous.

Default Issue with my Shield 9mm

This is why we should have some common replacement parts for our duty/carry guns. This is also why I don't buy handguns that I can't buy parts for.

This is because the part is failing in the field faster than they can make them without interrupting new production.

Smith & Wesson has always treated me very well and supported their product but this to me indicates they have a serious problem.

Hopefully new part number "BR549, Revision A" will be an improvement.

Please compare the two assemblies (old and new) and let us know if they changed anything.

Lot of companies trying to beat each other to the table and QC hits the toilet. Slow the **** down and produce a product that doesn't have issues. The past ten years has been a cluster **** for a few of the main companies for trying to beat each other to the table.

If companies wait then they get vilified for being slow to market or slow to responding to their customers. It's really a no win situation.

It's only a "no win situation" if you build a common part to be more complicated than it needs to be and prone to breakage. It is absolutely ridiculous to build a handgun with a recoil spring assembly that you can't take apart.

I had asked when the part would be in stock. This was their answer.

"Dear Customer,

We do not know when it will be back in stock at this time.
Smith&Wesson values its customers and we are happy to have served you today. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require further assistance."

Happy to have served me??? Then ship the damn part.

This is the exact reason I value a simple one piece guide rod with a single non-captured spring system.
