My Drill Instructors would have just loved that guy.

TV and Movies have gone a long way in mis informing the public as to the realities of things like that. It's all those little fragments of steel flying off in all directions that shred hide that make those things detrimental to ones' health not the "bang". If you take into consideration that each of those little chunks of metal that break off are a whole lot less aerodynamic than a bullet and are losing velocity at a much greater rate, it isn't quite such a big deal unless you are quite close to the actual event. To do harm to us frail humans it really doesn't take such high speed projectiles. Unless you have a real need for one of these things, I would suggest you buy a demilled surplus unit to display, handle and otherwise fondle.

A grenade is likely to come in handy when your washing machine is on the fritz...

I bought mine at Hahan.s war surplus. They carry several different kinds. I gave one to my mother in law.

I had a JROTC instructor tell our class something very similar when I was in school. He told our class that if someone tossed a grenade in the classroom, if you are wearing flak jackets and armor you only need to turn away and look up. The helmets apparently cover the neck when the user lifts their chin and the flak armor can normally handle the shrapnel from said grenade. He said your arms and legs might get cut, but you would still probably be in the fight.

No big explosion from grenades. It's the shrapnel that does the trick.

Some need to go to grenade school before owning one.
This guy gets a F-
Hand Gernades (from the french word for pomegranate) come tightly packed in their own individual case. I wouldn't even think of storing them any other way. Just for future reference, once the lever flips off you have 4.5 to 5 seconds before it goes boom.

What was this idiot thinking of? This was so incomprehensible. If I remember correctly these things have a 15 yard kill range and out to 30 yards you will be damaged. What probably saved them was that it landed in mud and water. Fast thinking on his buddies part or he would have been toast.

Unless you are within 5 meters. 6.5 ounces of Comp B will still kill you. There may not be any external wounds, but the shockwave moving through your body will severely disrupt your day!
