can you buy hand grenades ?

dunno what made me think of this but can you legally buy hand grenades? im assuming you can with a lot of paperwork. i cant think of a (reasonable) explanation for why i would need a hand grenade short of a zobmbie invasion.

if you can buy one who would even sell one and how much would it cost you?

At the very least they would each be registered as Destructive Devices and require a $200 transfer tax. While I am no expert when it comes to explosives i would think ATF would also require some special storage requirements and maybe a FEL (Federal Explosive License)

i waas talking to a friend who worked for a shop that had a Mk 19 40mm grenade launcher on display at the last show.

the story i heard was that for that, you've gotta go thru and they have requirements for how the 40mm grenades are stored.

not to mention the $200 tax stamp on each grenade.

but that's second hand info. no clue if it's still anywhere close to accurate or not and make no claims other than "it's what i heard".

i'm guessing that similar conditions would apply to hand grenades... except that you don't need any paperwork for the launcher.

looking forward to hearing more on this from anyone who knows the scoop. not that i need one, just because i'm curious.

i live alone... as long as the dog doen't think it's a new toy or try to retrieve it when thrown it'd be ok on the coffee table.

Hand Gernades (from the french word for pomegranate) come tightly packed in their own individual case. I wouldn't even think of storing them any other way. Just for future reference, once the lever flips off you have 4.5 to 5 seconds before it goes boom.

What was this idiot thinking of? This was so incomprehensible. If I remember correctly these things have a 15 yard kill range and out to 30 yards you will be damaged. What probably saved them was that it landed in mud and water. Fast thinking on his buddies part or he would have been toast.

No big explosion from grenades. It's the shrapnel that does the trick.

Unless you are within 5 meters. 6.5 ounces of Comp B will still kill you. There may not be any external wounds, but the shockwave moving through your body will severely disrupt your day!

I was thinking the same thing but with Smoke Grenades lol. If shtf and there are snipers involved, I wanna be able to be invisible or atleast out of sight.
