Question Washoe County Sheriff's candidates

Gentlemen,

I have been very busy with competing, traveling and raising two small children. Can anyone give me the skinny on the candidates for Washoe County Sheriff? I just would like to know who everyone here thinks is the best candidate. I have become a single issue vote and you got it, it's always gun rights.

Which candidate is most gun friendly?

I asked all of them a question about guns. I asked them about how they felt about state preemption law and also about guns carried into the Sheriff's office.

I got a response from Chuck Allen and Jim Lopey, but none of the others even bothered responding.

I think they are better choices than the others.

When I asked them about guns in the Sheriffs office I did not get a solid answers from either of them, though.

Thom Collins, father of Amanda Collins, also told me that Chuck Allen was in favor of Campus Carry.

I was originally leaning towards Chuck Allen but now I think I am leaning towards Jim Lopey.

Chuck Allen is our man. Period. End of story.

Couple weeks ago they held a debate, hosted by Washoe Republican Women. Article says the topic of gun control dominated the questions from the audience. I don't hate Lopey's statement, but it's doesn't get a standing ovation from me. Chuck Allen wins.

As of now Chuck Allen is getting my vote and I don't see that changing before election time. I've met Chuck and he's very personable, approachable, intelligent, and with his background should be an excellent sheriff.

Lopey is definitely pro freedom.

I've witnessed command staff mock him for his unwavering support for the second amendment when it mattered.

He's got my vote.

Loopy has my vote. I've known him for over a decade and he is staunchly on our side.

Plus, I grilled him on topics like CLOE sign offs on NFA transfers and the topic of congested area postings. He passed, with flying colors. The grilling happened when he brought his son out to shoot with us at the MOA range day back at the end of March. Don't judge candidates on sound bites, talk to them.

If Lopey's pro-gun, why didn't he answer the question? Only Allen sort of addressed it.

This thread is taking an interesting spin. In for more comments. I have to admit I became a Trooper Chuck Allen fan listening to him routinely on the Panama Show (1270AM and 96.1FM KBZZ local show)

I'm pretty much choosing Chuck Allen. He's got the background, communication skills, and a history of being a Nevadan at heart.

Can't wait for a new sheriff!
