Default Hallow point penetration

I was wondering if anyone could educate me on the penetration abilities of hallow points through objects? Are hollow points effective after passing through objects like dry wall, glass, fenders, car doors ETC..

When hollow point bullets pass through dry wall, the hollow cavity in the bullet becomes packed with dry wall. This inhibits the bullet from expanding, thus making it perform like a full metal jacket bullet.

FTX = Flex Tip eXpanding. This is the same technology as the LeveRevolution rifle rounds.

There are many types of hollow points that are designed to work after hitting various objects. But there is no magic bullet that performs perfectly no matter what it encounters before the target.

You choose based on what your probabilities are.

For law enforcement with a higher likelihood of harder cover, including windshield glass, a good choice is something like the Winchester PDX Bonded. This has some of the best penetration with controlled expansion.

For most of us, a much better choice is the Hornady Critical Defense with a polymer insert to keep the hollow point from filling with other materials, and to aid in reliable feeding, while also giving it greater performance in soft targets at the same time.
